Open role

Market Data Engineer

We are looking for an engineer who thrives on transforming complex market data into clean, validated, and production-ready systems. You will integrate multiple data sources, build robust pipelines, and help ensure that every number can be trusted.

The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, financial market data, and data quality. Financial-markets expertise is not required from day one, but curiosity, structure, and a desire to learn how indices work in production are essential.

What you will do

  • Integrate market data from external vendors, exchanges, and internal sources.
  • Build and improve ingestion pipelines for prices, reference data, FX rates, corporate actions, calendars, and other market data.
  • Normalize heterogeneous data formats into clean, consistent, and well-documented internal data models.
  • Implement validation, reconciliation, and data quality controls for missing, stale, inconsistent, or suspicious data.
  • Work with Index Engineering and Index Operations to support backtesting, daily calculation, reporting, and publication.
  • Investigate production data issues across vendors, pipelines, storage, and downstream systems.
  • Design pragmatic solutions for historical data management, versioning, corrections, and auditability.
  • Contribute to internal tooling, APIs, monitoring, documentation, and operational workflows.

What you bring

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Strong Python skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-oriented code.
  • Solid SQL skills and practical experience with relational databases.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, or backend services.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Understanding of validation, reconciliation, completeness checks, and auditability.
  • Careful reasoning about edge cases, data inconsistencies, and operational failure modes.
  • Fluent English and comfort working with ownership in a small team.

Nice to have

  • Experience with financial market data, asset management, trading, exchanges, or data vendors.
  • Familiarity with equities, bonds, ETFs, commodities, FX, derivatives, or crypto assets.
  • Experience with Docker, FastAPI, Pydantic, Airflow, Dagster, dbt, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data historization, slowly changing dimensions, event-based data, or audit trails.
  • Experience operating production systems, including monitoring, alerting, incident analysis, and debugging.

What we value

Curiosity, ownership, and intellectual honesty.

We value people who ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, challenge assumptions, and keep learning. You should enjoy working through messy real-world data problems with patience and precision, without ego.
